GasBuddy to include diesel forecast in 2013 outlook

GasBuddy Blog -- GasBuddy today announced that it will for the first time ever include a forecast for diesel fuel when it releases its 2013 fuel price outlook in early January.

In previous years, only gasoline was covered by the annual outlook. This year, GasBuddy is renaming the forecast to "Annual Fuel Outlook" instead of "Annual Gasoline Outlook". The move is sure to excite consumers who use diesel in their vehicles or for semi-drivers and others who rely on diesel as their primary fuel.

In prior years, diesel prices have remained above gasoline prices as supply has fallen and exports of diesel rise. Coupled with more stringent diesel rules that started in the mid-2000's with the change to ultra low sulfur diesel, prices have risen sharply...

"On paper at least, diesel fuel is a less refined petroleum distillate than gasoline, so it should always be cheaper to produce than gasoline. The problem with diesel fuel prices has more to do with the laws of supply and demand for various petroleum products, not the actual cost of production" (Pollick)

We always report regular gasoline and the diesel price posted if the station sells both when we post prices seen in our are during the day. We are looking forward to the day that CNG prices have a column to post the local CNG prices. Granted we are a long way from that day but it will be a good day for one an all whenever it does occur.

If EPA regulations hadn't more or less banned them way more people would be driving them and we'd be getting 50 MPG without some silly battery pack.
