Lawmakers weigh proposed increased gas tax

WMUR-TV --

Lawmakers in the Granite State are discussing raising the gas tax 15 cents over the next four years.

The average price of a regular gallon of gas is hovering around $3.65, and if the increase in a state gas tax moves forward, drivers said their wallets will also be empty.

“It’s crazy. When is the end going to be in sight?” said driver Bill Hoover.

State lawmakers said the revenue will be used to repair and maintain 1,600 miles of state roadways and bridges.

Lawmakers weigh proposed increased gas tax, people have to pay for what they use. Just make sure fuel taxes go for what they are intended for: Repair or Replacement of Roads and Bridges. NOT into the state General Fund for use elsewhere at the whim of someone.
Big Oil and Big Gas sells fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices.
The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon - *$3, *$3.50/gallon or *$4.00 is Not the new low!
More Refineries are Not the answer, Stop exporting fuel is!
Take care of the domestic fuel market first and above all else!
Make sure the EV's and Inbreds are taxed for their use of the roads too! Either a flat fee for the year or some kind of mileage tax.
Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

make it a percentage rather than a fixed number (I know I'll pay more, but at least Pig Oil won't make so much)

I have rarely if ever seen the price of labor and materials go down. That's another factor in the equation.

Cut all road and bridge worker pay and benefits to zero and let 5Golfer8 fix them, and he would be quiet.

Forget a gas tax... make it a mileage tax based on weight and miles driven.

Michigan is talking about raising gas taxes too.
The gas tax here is already $0.59 a gallon.
How much more are we expected to pay?

They are proposing higher gas taxes, so that the sales tax will also be higher.

Washington has no reason to lower gas prices. They benefit the most by the higher pump prices.

BELIEVE IT!

This will not help get money for roads. People are spending less because of high prices and thus less money going toward taxes. If you raise it more the less you will get because there will be less buying. Find another solution.

Just because the OIL and GAS and BIG CAR and BIG GUV industries do it, does NOT mean that LITTLE GUV can do it to. There is enough criminal activity already. Please do not let local guys rip people off further. The money WON'T GO for roads. It will go for SHRIMP and BOOZE at the parties.

What? A politician or group of these sleezeballs hatching plans to fleece the public even more? I'm shocked! Shocked, I say.

It's like an otter swimming. It's what they do.

Revenues (taxes) are needed to support the investments (spending).

Politicker-speak.
