Oil Rises Amid Israel Conflict, U.S. Budget Talks

Bloomberg -- Oil advanced to the highest level in more than a week in New York amid concern that Middle East unrest will disrupt supply and speculation the U.S. will avert automatic spending cuts and tax rises that threaten to throw the nation into recession.

West Texas Intermediate futures climbed to more than $88 a barrel, extending two weeks of gains. Israel will continue to attack Gaza and may intensify operations, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said. U.S. President Barack Obama is “confident” of a deal on the so-called fiscal cliff, he said after Nov. 16 talks with congressional leaders.

“Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are not good news for the energy markets,” Fatih Birol, chief economist at the International Energy Agency, said in an interview in Oslo. “Any geopolitical event may

Well what you do you know. Just when you think prices are on a steady decline, thank goodness for another Middle East crisis to freak speculators into a panic and spike oil and gasoline prices. They couldn’t have timed it any better.

Any surprise here????? These are the types of excuses the oil companies are looking for to justify bumping up prices. It also means we ought to fill up tomorrow before they jump the prices tomorrow.

Really? Any excuse to screw consumers who are dependent on fuel the earn a living. How much petroleum does Israel produced that is consumed by the USA? How does the progress and potential of avoiding sequestration adversely impact petroleum supplies and/or pricing? Get ready for more BIG Lies from BIG oil and in the end we consumers get the BIG screw as usual!

Christmas is coming and the Oil exec's need a reason for a bigger bonus... We should be happy to help them out with a higher price at the pump! It's the American way to take care of those 1%ers. I am sure if we help them out with their Christmas bonus they will help us all out.

I did NOT vote for Obama, but prices skyrocketed during the Bush admin for a bunch of reasons: exploding U.S. demand, Iraq War II, Katrina/Rita impact, and then declined during the financial collapse in 2008. Even though I am not a fan of his, I would not put the current gas prices on President Obama doorstep.

Just imagine if the U.S. economy was rolling along with bigger expansion and a 4.5% unemployment rate: the increased gas demand would mean.....higher prices.

Want to spend less on gas? Use less.
