They probably would have hired Dick Chaney, et al, but they haven't been out of office long enough.

A good fix to the problem is to not buy any more Toyotas. This will let them concentrate on the ones already on the road.

Well well, it looks like the people of Toyota has found thei ace in the hole. Im sure the liberals will bail Toyota out. Clinton and his cronies are great for not taking responsability for their actions.

So that is why on page B1 of today's Wall Street Journal the picture of the technician "repairing a gas pedal" of a Camry appears to be re flashing the controls software????

In a previous post I said I would buy a Toyota before a GM or Chrysler product; well this may steer me to a different manufacturer.

Well, what do you expect? The latest supreme court ruling removes any limits to corporate campaign spending, for any corporation, foreign or domestic.
It's funny, foreigners cannot contribute to a politician, but a corporation can! Go figure.

I have an a appointment next Wednesday to get the recall fixed on my Camry. I hope that this postage stamp sized shim will do the job and is not a weak attempt to save face for the floundering automaker.

I have been driving Toyota's since 1985 and been really happy with the reliability and comfort of 3 models so far. This fiasco is really upsetting and I am disappointed in the Toyota reaction.

They should not have lobbyists to do control & cover. These firms do no one any good except for themselves and the politicians. Consumers get no benefit from their work.

Some things never change, unfortunately. bumpygas is right on.
danny99 also brings up a point I mentioned several days. Now that Toyota has come forward, everyone is going to blame everything especially operator error on Toyota. The slip and fall lawyers have found a fall guy for everything even when its not their fault. That's one reason companies keep secrets, the erroneous and frivolous lawsuits are maddening. If people would only man-up and admit their own mistakes instead of trying to find an innocent fallguy.

Just what we need, more lobbyists. As far as I'm concerned, LOBBYISTS are behind most of our economic problems. They first came into prominence around 1913. Coupled with the birth of the Federal Reserve Board, we've witnessed rising inflation with consequential drop in Dollar value of 92%, and a Government that does not pay attention to its own law, The US Constitution.

They must have an incredible reputation, otherwise Toyota wouldn't have picked them, and their close association to the Democrats.

That's why the government shouldn't own car companies. It creates a conflict of interest when regulating competitors.
